When you Start Living with us, you can be sure you’re making a sustainable choice. Because all our properties are brand new, they’ve got energy efficiency built in – new homes are 6.5 times more efficient on average than ones built 30 years ago.
Our homes are already Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rated B or above, years ahead of the government’s 2030 target. This means they’re better insulated – so you can stay warm and comfortable all-year round, while reducing emissions and bills.
The future is green – here are just some of the ways that Start Living is encouraging sustainable living.
All new Start Living homes are being built to support the UK’s climate ambitions. Our properties comfortably meet the government’s new standards, which will require all new homes to produce around 30% less CO2 emissions by June 2022. More energy efficient materials and improved insulation are just some of the positive steps being taken to help the UK move more than three quarters of the way to net zero by 2035.
We do everything we can to install the latest green technology in our developments – including smart meters and charging points for electric cars.
Communal green spaces are at the heart of the Start Living experience. Our neighbourhoods encourage biodiversity with newly planted trees and bird feeders wherever possible
The vast majority of Start Living homes are built on brownfield sites – transforming derelict land into modern, healthy and thriving places to live.
We don’t just build homes, we build communities. With each development, we invest in the local area – helping local schools, investing in roads and public transport and building better public open spaces. Recently we’ve worked with local councils in West Bromwich to transform parks and repair roads, and helped improve schooling in Scunthorpe.
